Anton Braun
Our family tradition of instrument making dates back to 1896.
We have been dedicated to flute making since 1984.
Drawing on this tradition, as well as many years of experience and scientific calculations,
Dipl.-Ing. Anton Braun developed our flute models and had them patented.
They were created to make it easier for flutists to realize their vision of sound and to enable the most beautiful form of musical expression—singability (“cantabilität”).
Everything that can be expressed on the flute—from response and projection to timbre and intonation—has its acoustic basis in the instrument’s construction and the details that shape its sound.
Our flute models currently in production
"Braun Piccolo": was the first instrument developed by Anton Braun and has been on the market since 1985. This instrument quickly became an established part of everyday professional orchestral practice, thereby confirming the practical viability of the underlying acoustic calculations.
"Braun octave flute": was launched in 2010 by Anton Braun and has since become a successful fixture on the market. This new development – a full-sized octave flute in the Böhm system – has resolved an acoustic and structural problem in flute-making that has existed since the introduction of the Böhm flute in 1832.
It is the world’s first octave Böhm flute to have successfully established itself in everyday professional orchestral practice.
