DeutschBraun wooden flute
This modern, thin-walled wooden flute was produced in limited numbers between 1993 and 2010.
Although this model is no longer in production, it is still in active use around the world today.
In terms of weight, the instrument is as light as a solid silver flute. It also combines the rich, warm tone of a wooden flute with the brilliance of a metal flute.
This sound is achieved, amongst other things, by the wooden headjoint featuring this patented gold riser insert (German patent number: 4336496), the entire wall of which is made of gold.
The characteristic properties of the BRAUN wooden flute compared to the metal flute are:
- On first listening, there is no noticeable difference
- The different overtone structure makes the wooden flute blend more easily, which is particularly lovely in a woodwind ensemble, in a quintet, and especially in chamber music with string instruments
- Better projection and a more beautiful unfolding of the sound in the room.
- a warm, full, and rich tone, particularly in the third octave
- The smoother sound initiation results in excellent responsiveness and allows for a wide range of nuances in articulation and dynamics.

Wooden flute in three sections:
Headjoint with a hand-carved raised embouchure and an inset gold riser, thin-walled body
- with C-foot or B-foot
- Inline or offset G
- 925 sterling-silver mechanism with French pointed arms
- with or without E-mechanism
- open or closed holes
- fitted with traditional pads
- key-tail/kicker buffers to prevent percussive noise are made of stable-shaped synthetic material, so they do not become hard and loud in the course of time,as for example is the case with felt or cork.
Wooden flute with C-foot in two sections:
Headjoint with a hand-carved raised embouchure and an inset gold riser, with a one-piece thin-walled body and footjoint.
This construction facilitates even vibration of the entire tube as well as promoting a balanced sound between registers.
Other options are identical to the three-piece model.
Wood:
For BRAUN wooden flutes, only carefully selected, long-seasoned, extremely fine-grained, and beautiful African blackwood (Dalbergia melanoxylon) with excellent tonal qualities is used.
Special constructions:
Special versions, such as instruments with an open G♯ key or other custom designs, can be planned and manufactured.
Pitch
Wooden flutes can be supplied with scales in the following pitches: a'= 442 Hz, 440 Hz or 444 Hz The respective fundamental pitch allows for effortless playing within a range of ± 2 Hz, depending on personal disposition.
Customisation
Any custom adjustment of the delivered instrument to the customer's individual playing style will be carried out within one year of purchase.
Accessories
The instrument is supplied in a high-quality leather case with a padded lining, a cleaning rod and a cloth.
